The Designer collaboration of the Season: H&M X Simone Rocha.

Simone Rocha X H&M (Vogue.co.uk, 2021).

The potential for a brand to invest in in a collaborative project instils the opportunity for a variety of initiatives for both retailers (Posner, 2019). This form of strategic alliance has worked incredibly well for H&M and continues to do so. Where Topshop was always renowned for their successful collaborations with celebrities such as Kate Moss and Beyoncé, H&M has attained exclusive design collaborations with the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Versace and Giambattista Vali (Glamobserver.com,2016). Generally, the format for collaborations in fashion retail is for a large, well known fashion retailer to create an exclusive and design-led collection with a luxury brand or individual designer (Posner, 2019).

For Spring 2021 H&M has once again managed to form an alliance with another couture brand, this time it's the London based luxury brand Simone Rocha. Simone Rocha, was born in 1986 in Dublin, Ireland. Her designs are a tribute to femininity and feature tulle, frills, ribbons and pearls (Vogue.fr, 2021), (HM.com,2021). "Since debuting at London Fashion Week in 2010, she has become internationally renowned for her intricate and meticulously-researched collections, always with a nod to her own heritage: Ireland and Hong Kong" (HM.com, 2021).

The collection is beautifully intricate and features her signature motifs including tulle, feminine beading and glorious accessories. The collaboration with H&M expands beyond womenswear and features garments for men and children. The launch will be dropped online on the 11th March 2021 and will no doubt, alike all of H&M's luxury collaborations, sell out within minutes. The collection is a tribute to Simone's career so far since her Launch at London Fashion Week in 2010. Over a decade has past since her delicate collections graced our fashion runways and for many, the H&M collection will be the first time her garments have been obtainable. The product ranges from clothing to fabulous accessories which include headbands, hair ribbons, pink sunglasses and socks. The beautiful collection screams raw femininity through bespoke detailing and puffed sleeves which feature key trends for SS/21. The H&M collaboration is surely one not to be missed.
